This year our YMCA movement IKE Transylvania is celebrating 95 years since the movement was started here in Transylvania serving the Hungarian community since the beginning. The main event of this year round celebrations is the 3rd IKE Festival which will be organized in a picturesque tourist resort town called Sovata in the heart of Transylvania from 9-13 of August 2016.

The 3rd Change Direction IKE Festival is one of the largest Christian Hungarian Youth festivals in Romania first organized in 2011 in the same location in Sovata. The theme of the 3rd IKE Festival is: “The world that surrounds us!” The Festival aims to be a “compass” for the young people in a world that is fast changing and where the individual becomes more and more alienated. Our desire and prayer is that through the Festival we will all experience a true sense of belonging and community where the young people will be able to find fellowship with God and each other.

For the international guests there will be English speaking programs available including daily devotions, workshops, interactive programs.

Sovata is a beautiful place with a lot of opportunities.

Make sure that you bring your swim suit as there will be opportunities to swim in the most salted lake in Romania, called Bear Lake at Sovata. Why is it called Bear Lake? Because of its bear-like shape. This part of Romania has many lakes which are free to visit or swim in.

The area has many possibilities for forest walks or hikes, just make sure that you have the right walking/hiking shoes!
